French students in Poland

On 6-11 April 2013, we hosted a group of 17 French students and their teachers Ms. Bernardette Shutte and Ms. Marion Dubois of Lycee Felix Faure in Beauvais, France. This event, called 'students exchange', is the result of a project cooperation between the school in Przeworsk and the school in Beauvais, conducted from September 2012. The coordinator of the project is Ms. Marta Inglot with help of Ms. Paulina Oratowska. The theme of the project is to promote a 'hobby without technology'. The project activities are designed to draw attention to young people's growing dependence on technology, information and communication, the pursuit of new gadgets. The program was:
  •      presentation of interesting places in the region where young people can pursue their passions,
  •      a survey of junior high school students in the district Przeworsk on e-waste
  •      campaign of the city 'electrowaste-simple rules'
  •      sports game France-Poland

In addition there were some trips to the most interesting places in the city, the region and in Poland.

Here's a detailed report.

About 13:00 hour in front of the Municipal Cultural Center in Przeworsk we welcomed our friends from Beauvais. We counted days to see them, and they could not wait to come to Poland and their Polish project partners. Our guests from France, although tired, was smiling all the time. Shortly after arriving in Przeworsk, everyone went home to their host family and spent the rest of day with them.

The day began with a tour of the building, and the guides were students from our school who presented (in French) the most important assets of our school, such as modern didactic base, cooperation with European schools and friendly atmosphere. Polish students also invited their partners from France for lessons. About 10:00 at the gym started official "Welcome", with the participation of the Director Krystyna Ścisłowicz, Mr. Leszek Kisiel and the whole school community. The ceremony was an opportunity to present Polish-French pairs, the exchange of gifts and a slide show of our stay at the partner school in France in March 2013. Talented students from our school performed the variety of songs. Our guests could see Przeworsk with the speaches prepared by Polish students from the project. We visited the Museum , Basilica Church Holy Spirit Monastery Market and OO. Bernardine. About 15:00 we met again  at the school for a cup of coffee and delicious homemade baked goods, so we could share our experiences, present the results of a survey conducted in November in both partner schools and provide the most interesting places in the region in the form of multimedia presentations.

April 9, 2013, Tuesday
Already at 6.00 in the morning we went to Krakow. Our guests were anxious to see the former Polish capital. We started walking from the Wawel Castle and then walked along the Royal Route to Market, stopping at the crown points along the route, they are: the Barbican, 'Pope's Window', the Cloth Hall and St. Mary's Church. Especially for this occasion we have prepared a leaflet with information about the passing attractions. After the 'great Polish history lesson', we participated in the workshop at the Museum of Municipal Engineering. Here, in addition to viewing the collection of historic vehicles and to check the laws of physics on a variety of devices, a spent a great time building something like hovercraft. After that, we stopped in front of the Jagiellonian University, the second such institution in the history of Europe. On the way back we waited for one more attraction-tour of the Salt Main in Bochnia. It was a fascinating experience, not only for the French students. Everyone was thrilled variety of attractions prepared for this day.

April 10, 2013, Wednesday
From morning Polish students with their French partners visited schools in Przeworsk and some other, nearest towns. Mostly these were the schools that have recently completed. The purpose of this visit was to conduct a survey among students. It was also an opportunity to promote our school and the project. At 10:00 am, we was back in the building of our school and we started preparing for the campaign 'electrowaste - simple rules'. Some students dressed up as electro, some carrying banners, others distributed leaflets. A colorful procession through the streets of the town walked up to the market, attracting the attention of passers-by. The point of the program has met with great interest the French students, since it is not known to them the concept of e-mail. Another point was Polish and French match! The various competitions conducted by PE teachers ended in a draw. Later we had a goodbye party in 'Pastewnik'. They were so wishes, thanks, memories and interviews. In memory, each participant received a commemorative mug and a group photo in front of the school.
